A Patch Management Administrator I/II/III is a position within OneNeck’s Managed Services organization supporting a variety of customers ranging from medium size businesses to large enterprises. This position entails proactive patch administration services to maintain vulnerability & policy compliance requirements and assists while proactively developing improved patch and vulnerability management procedures. This team member participates in project activities as well as strategic and tactical patch and configuration management model development including heavy involvement in process and procedure enhancements as well as in the identification and assessment of security deficiencies to provide patch remediation. This individual will be involved in daily/monthly planning and management of patching activities to help ensure internal and customer devices are patched appropriately. Responsibilities include onboarding of new customers into a patching framework, participating in required steps to ensure success in regular monthly completion of operating system patching in test and production environments while ensuring a high level of effectiveness and quality.

 

Skills and Technologies involved in the Service Administrator role are as follows:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • General knowledge of patch management tools, such as, HEAT\Lumension, IBM Big Fix, WSUS or other similar tools.
  • Capable of perform daily operational duties in change management, patching, tuning, and troubleshooting in a production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server and Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems strongly preferred
  • Awareness of supporting Citrix, Terminal Services/RDS, and virtual desktop environments
  • Exposure to Microsoft Exchange, SQL, and virtualization technologies including VMware, HyperV, etc.
  • Knowledge of storage administration/SAN technology
  • Experience with backup software and technologies
  • Understanding of Cloud and “as-a-service” concepts
  • General understanding of networking concepts

 

**Please note:  We can hire this position as a Patch Management Administrator I, Patch Management Administrator II or Patch Management Administrator III. Requirements for each position are listed in the qualifications section. We will assess applicants based on skills set and years of relevant experiences.**

Responsibilities

  • Assist in onboarding of new customers into monthly patching configuration framework.
  • Assist in writing of detailed change requests outlining steps required to safely patch customer environments.
  • Strong role in scheduling and/or performing of regularly scheduled patching cycles utilizing the patching tools configured for that environment.
  • Work with Service Delivery Managers and/or customers to make any necessary adjustments to patching schedules or procedures to ensure successful regular patching.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completions of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Aid in the administration of systems infrastructure so that the systems operate reliably and available within its agreed (SLA) Service Level Agreements
  • Be an escalation point for issues and requests that cannot be serviced by other groups, working issue to resolution, improving upon process, procedure, and knowledge to reduce future escalations.
  • Execute planned maintenance
  • Develop and enhance technical operating procedures and documentation to improve upon efficiency and effectiveness of operations and change activity.
  • Identify and own problems and/or opportunities for improvement; working toward developing and deploying temporary and permanent fixes.
  • Periodically construct and facilitate training with other groups in support of increasing capabilities, efficiencies, and effectiveness.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Patch Management Administrator I

  • Associate’s degree (or higher) OR 2+ years professional work experience.

Patch Management Administrator II

  • Associate’s degree (or higher) OR 2+ years professional work experience.
  • 1+ years IT systems administration experience.

Patch Management Administrator III

  • Associate’s degree (or higher) OR 2+ years professional work experience.
  • 2+ years IT systems administration experience.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Applicable technical certifications preferred
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Advanced analytical, statistical, and problem solving skills.
  • Results and execution oriented, self-motivated requiring minimal supervision
  • Advanced communication skills regarding project teams and management
  • ITIL V3 foundation certification preferred.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
