OneNeck IT Solutions is seeking top talent for an Engineer III – Data Center or an Engineer IV –Data Center to provide advanced data center technology consulting, implementation and support based in one of our following OneNeck office locations: Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO; Omaha, NE; Eden Prairie, MN; Des Moines, IA; Cedar Rapids, IA; Davenport, IA; or Madison, WI.

 

The Engineer III – Data Center position is a senior implementation and support engineer. Interfaces with internal service delivery and customer personal to implement solutions using various data center technologies, in an effort to meet the business needs of customers. Maintains expert-level knowledge of technologies within specific functional areas, maintains required certifications, and fulfills a “trusted advisor” role among our customers on technical matters. Continues professional development by continually building knowledge base within areas of specialization as well as building new areas of expertise. Mentors internal staff and customers in areas of expertise. Responsible for quality assurance metrics both internally and externally.

 

The Engineer IV – Data Center position is a lead implementation and support engineer. Interfaces with internal service delivery and customer personal to implement solutions using various data center technologies, in an effort to meet the business needs of customers. Maintains expert-level knowledge of technologies within specific functional areas, maintains required certifications, and fulfills a “trusted advisor” role among our customers on technical matters. Continues professional development by continually building knowledge base within areas of specialization as well as building new areas of expertise. Mentors internal staff and customers in areas of expertise. Responsible for quality assurance metrics both internally and externally. Works across the organization with engineering teams as well as provide leadership and mentorship.

 

Note:  This position may be hired at the Engineer III – Data Center or Engineer IV – Data Center level given the skills/experience of the candidate and business need.

Responsibilities

Engineer III/IV – Data Center:

  • Provide technical leadership in the installation, configuration and implementation of client data center solutions to OneNeck standards. Create customer and internal procedures for IT installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Effectively consult with customers on IT strategy, technology solutions, and improvements to their IT infrastructure using solutions. Mentor internal staff and train customers in areas of expertise. Create presentations and effectively present OneNeck solution proposals to technical and executive audiences.
  • Uphold documentation standards and maintain customer documentation.
  • Visit vendors, attend conferences or training, and study technical journals to keep up with changes in technology and advance OneNeck vendor relationships.
  • Provide technical support for customers and internal IT and perform occasional on-call duties for customer and internal issue escalation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications Engineer III – Data Center :

• Bachelor degree or 4 years professional experience.
• 5+ years of complex data center systems management and administration (4 of these years to include managing and/or maintaining environments which leverage virtualization technologies).
• Valid Driver’s License, insurance and have access to reliable transportation required. 
• Availability to consult, assist and/or perform after-hours support and participate in on-call rotations.

 

Other Qualifications Engineer III – Data Center :

• 4+ years of data center deployment experience, specifically around Cisco UCS, virtualization, storage, and networking technologies (specifically EMC, HPE, NetApp, VMware, and Cisco) or combination
• Desktop virtualization experience a plus
• Experience building relationships with both customers and manufacturers
• Manufacturer and industry based certifications a huge plus, or the ability to quickly attain said certifications.
• Design and perform day-to-day administration of complex data center solutions, including some or all of the following technologies:
o x86 based computer systems, including blade systems and rack mount style servers (preferably Cisco UCS and HP Blade systems)
o Server and application virtualization, specifically VMware but additional manufacturers strongly desired
o Experience in deploying and/or a high degree of experience in managing and maintaining storage arrays and/or Storage Area Networks (preferably EMC, HPE, NetApp, Cisco MDS, and Brocade/McData)
o Data center networking products specifically Cisco Nexus Edge/Access products
o Experience deploying and/or managing data center backup, recovery, and archival systems (preferably EMC Data Domain, EMC Avamar, HPE, Commvault, Veeam, and related technologies). Experience working with multiple cloud solutions such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, other multi-tenant hosting solutions/vendors, etc.

• Ability to effectively communicate technical problems and solutions to technical and non-technical people

• Ability to continually develop and strengthen relationships with colleagues and customers
• Demonstrated experience with solutions consulting or a strong desire to quickly become a valued consultant to internal and external customers

• Strong desire not to conform to the status quo, meaning a strong desire to continually improve one’s self as well as business and consulting processes.

 

Required Qualifications Engineer IV – Data Center :

• Bachelor degree or 4 years professional experience.
• 7+ years of complex data center systems management and administration (4 of these years to include managing and/or maintaining environments which leverage virtualization technologies).
• Valid Driver’s License, insurance and have access to reliable transportation required. 
• Availability to consult, assist and/or perform after-hours support and participate in on-call rotations.
